For several years after I bought my Vitamix I was hoping that company would bring out an container that would fit under the counter and be easy to clean. I did get their small container that was available but after a few years the bottom would get very dirty with build up of food that could not be removed with soap or a brush. The area around blade was smaller too and after several years of use I returned the container to the company and got a new one under warranty. Unfortunately, I ended up getting another just like what I had a problem with which I used for another year or so. After seeing the new container in a store with a Vitamix machine I immediately ordered this from Amazon. Now the good news is that the new container fits under the counter and is much easier to clean, especially on the bottom which is the same design as the tall one in a shorter version. I am very pleased. I would recommend this highly.

I love the size of this container. It is perfect for making dips and other small dishes that do not require the 64 oz. It is so much easier to scrape thicker blends out too. I love it and use it for 90% of my food prep.

I've owned VM appliances since the mid 80's with the old 3600+ with the reversible blades. For these people who complain about noise now, they should've been around those machines! It was a converted chain saw motor, as I understood at the time.

I've got the variable speed 5200/CIA model; it came with the 64oz container. I suppose I'd prefer the old handmade stainless steel carafe, EXCEPT for the spigot; it made it impossible to ever clean completely after grain grinding or really sticky stuff. The new plastic carafes are much better in that regard.

However, I'm in a wheelchair most of the time and simply have trouble jamming the tamper easily on the 64oz due to the total height. That's why I ordered the 48oz. My favorite 'regular' blender is a Waring lab blender with the 32oz stainless carafe, so I knew I wanted more capacity than that. The 48oz is perfect for my needs. For 'fun' smoothies like banana/strawberry, stuff like that, I'll make extra and... Read more
