Container - Ruby Professional chefs and establishments use this for a reason. Its motor is built like a tank and works reliably for many years producing stunning results consistently. There are no gimmicks or a dozen extra parts to keep track of. It just simply works as it is because of its stamina, variable speeds and special container design that pulls food into the blades. You do need the included tamper for some things like peanut butter and sorbets or ice creams, but rarely for smoothies once you get used to the most effective method of loading your ingredients. That info is shared on the Getting Started DVD and recipes in the included cookbook show ingredients in the best order to add them to the container. I'm not a recipe person, so I've learned through trial and error, but mostly it's just about putting the juicy things like grapes in first so the vortex can get going quickly. Container - Ruby I had wanted a Vitamix for decades, should have gotten it sooner. This machine is awesome! I've used it for smoothies, custards, chopping veggies, salsa, cranberry relish, healthy fruit "ice cream", hot soup -- it's used at least once a day and sometimes more. It's easy to clean; a little hot water and some Dawn dishwashing liquid, and turn the machine on for a few seconds -- be sure to have the lid on tight, or it will wash your kitchen ceiling too. Bought mine (through Amazon) from Pro Kitchen Gear, and their customer service is topnotch. Container - Ruby I wish I had ordered it with taller, more slender container...Not a hue problem, but when I make my smoothies very thick, the mixture tends to slide out in a wide fashion, sometime exceeding the width of the glass it is filling...Solution? pour mixture out into a wider container, and then transfer it into the glass. Not a really big deal, just an inconvenience...Otherwise, it does a GREAT job of pulverizing frozen fruit! |
