What are Breville Certified Remanufactured Products?
Breville Certified Remanufactured Products are returned Breville products that have been inspected, remanufactured, and repackaged for sale. They are returned to Breville by retailers and may or may not have been previously used or purchased by a consumer. While only some products are returned due to technical issues, all products undergo Breville's stringent quality-assurance and remanufacturing process.

In order for a Breville product to be considered Certified Remanufactured, it must be fully inspected, cleaned, and tested to Breville's remanufacturing standards before being offered for sale. Each Breville Certified Remanufactured Product is fully cleaned and tested to ensure any identified defective components are replaced with original Breville replacement parts. Each product is inspected to Breville quality-assurance standards and, if it passes, is then repackaged into a new box bearing the "Certified Remanufactured” logo. All Certified Remanufactured Products are 100 percent functional to Breville factory specifications but may exhibit some minor cosmetic imperfections, such as scratches, marks, or discolorations.
What is the difference between Breville Certified Remanufactured and Refurbished products?
The certified remanufactured program requires each unit to be broken down into its individual units and reconstructed, ensuring that the finished product is of the highest possible quality. Refurbished programs do not necessarily go through this process. Before this process, each unit is vigorously tested to pinpoint the source of error before rebuilding so the problem can be targeted as accurately as possible.

Breville’s IKON Blender is designed to minimize food traps and blend all ingredients evenly. Don’t worry any longer about lumps at the top of the blending jug or over-blended ingredients at the bottom; the BBL600XL’s Hemisphere blade system has central blades to draw ingredients on the top down and wider blades to push ingredients on the bottom up. The motor has a 750 watt capacity, and there are five speed settings including mix, chop, blend, liquefy and puree. Preset programs for smoothies and crushed ice use pulsing at varied speeds to ensure optimum results. Make more than smoothies; the Breville IKON Blender can also prepare pesto, soup, and sauces.
Breville's IKON Blender has a sturdy die-cast aluminum base with a back-lit, single-wipe-clean control pad with no crevices for easy cleaning. A Breville assist plug and assist lid make getting the IKON Blender set up easy; simply insert your finger through the loop and pull. The 51 oz. (1.5 L) glass blending jug is scratch-resistant. Make sure to fit the jug and the blade together and lock them into place tightly before blending to prevent messes.

But after reading mixed reviews of just about every blender out there I decided it was worth the risk. The impression that I came away with was that almost every maker of blenders occasionally shipped a stinker and that these stinkers comprised a material percentage of the units shipped. And I thought that a remanufactured product might have already addressed whatever made that particular unit undesirable.It's now 30 days into the 90-day warranty period and so far my theory has worked. This unit has taken everything I've thrown at it. Leafy vegetables such a kale, hard ones such as carrots, soft fruit, hard fruit, seeds, frozen fruit and ice. The only things I haven't tried are hot liquids (which Breville warns against in any event) and cheese. I too have a KithenAid blender that served me well until the rubber coupling gave out and has yet to be replaced (about an $8 part). Back to the subject. This blender has a nice fitting lid which seals shut and drips back I to the jar unlike the Blendtec which neither seals, and drips all over the place. It has a selection of variable speeds but I find just using the set speeds works fine, and pulse seems much more reliable than the Blendtec. And the jar is glass, not plastic. So given the price and superior features, and quite attractive sitting on the counter, if it lasts more than a year, I'll be a happy camper. Well, after a few months of solid use the chrome on the base started to peel off, did not harm the blender just made it look trashy. Then just after it was a year old it started to leak a black oily substance from under it's base (motor). One more mess to keep clean; well it would not wash off our towels, so it's now collecting dust in the garage; replaced by a Kitchenaid architectural series, which I'm happy with. |
