5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome blender., October 2, 2012
This review is from: Calphalon XL 9 Speed Blender
I have been shopping for a blender for some time now, for just making smoothies. Comparing price, quality and power on several units. Some costing as much as $500 with a plastic jar and base with 4 chopping blades. The Calphalon XL 9 speed blender is exactly what I been looking for. It has a thick glass jar, die cast metal base with 9 smooth button controls and 6 stainless steel blades. For only $129. It has 600 watts of power to tackle all of my needs. This is more then enough for me for fruit, veggie smooothies. It has this unique smoothie program, when pressed, runs for 30 seconds liquifying and then 30 seconds on and off chopping. And then it powers off. What an amazing feature. Just to note, on the bottom of the jar there are two small extending pivets that has to align with the base of the unit or it will not power on. Sorry, I actually did not purchased my unit on Amazon. It was at a local store. There was a 20% savings.

5.0 out of 5 stars great for smoothies, February 15, 2013

I have read a ton of reviews on various blenders. I purchased the nutri bullet and loved it for smoothies but the motor stopped working at 2 months. The only thing i didn't like about the bullet was the size of the cup, I would have loved to make smoothies in larger quantities.

I purchased the Ninja Professional Blender for 99.00, i thought for sure the 1000 watt blender would make a smooth smoothie. Unfortunately, it did not. I will be returned to the store.

In desparation, i purchased the Calphalon 9 speed blender for 129.00 and to my surprise it made me a smooth smoothie. I used kale, frozen mixed berries, raw beets, dates, apple and banana and water. This blender produce a smooth and creamy smoothie. Definitely 5 stars.

3.0 out of 5 stars Fancy Blender, but isnt perfect..., January 15, 2013

This review is intended to advise people who are buying this blender primarily for smoothies/shakes. Anyway this is a very nice looking blender with a bunch of little extra features that made it seem great initially. Now I havent had any problems with this blender other than what i bought it for...Protein Shakes and Smoothies. Now if your making smoothies and shakes without any ice its fine. However if you add ice(crushed or cubed) and set it for smoothie you will be left with big chunks of ice riddled throughout your smoothie/shake. The only way to enjoy them otherwise is to first add ice and then ice crush it first, then add smoothie/shake ingredients. It kind of takes away from the point of having a one touch button feature for such things. Anyway other than that it is a very well made blender, however if your buying it for smoothies/protein shakes I'd advise you to look elsewhere... My $30 hamilton beach blender did a better job with protein shakes than this blender, pretty... Read more
